Ramimonilia

Ramimonilia Stielow & Quaedvl., in Crous et al., Fungal Systematics and Evolution 3: 130 (2019).

Index Fungorum number: IF 829429; Facesoffungi number: FoF 11088, 1 morphological species (Species Fungorum 2022), 1 species with molecular data.

Associated with rock. Sexual morph: Unknown. Asexual morph: Colonies black in reverse, brown and hairy in obverse, pale brown in the center, becoming black near the periphery, with irregular margin. Hyphae septate, branched, with thick walls, consisting of round and chained cells with apical germination (adapted from Crous et al. 2019).

Type species: Ramimonilia apicalis Stielow & Quaedvl.

Notes: Ramimonilia is characterised by typical chained disposition of hyphae. Morphological features of Ramimonilia are limited. In the phylogenetic analysis of Egidi et al. (2014) based on LSU and ITS sequence data, Ramimonilia clustered in a distinct and external position to Phaeotheca triangularis and is placed in Capnodiales genera incertae sedis. Molecular data available for Ramimonilia are SSU and ITS. More species with DNA sequence data and more gene regions are required to confirm the placement of Ramimonilia in Capnodiales.
