Importance and distribution
Chaetocapnodium species are saprobic sooty moulds. They are decomposers that break down exuded plant materials as their source of nutrition. They can also cover leaves, blocking light and reducing the rate of photosynthesis (Abdollahzadeh et al. 2020). The genus comprises only one species known on leaves of unidentified plant in Asia (Thailand).
