Importance and distribution
There are 27 Vestergrenia epithets in Index Fungorum (2022), but three species have been transferred to Guignardia, Petasodes and Phyllachorella. Vestergrenia comprises 24 species known on several host plants such as Achyranthes aspera (Amaranthaceae), Cestrum quitense (Solanaceae), Clerodendrum sp. (Lamiaceae), Clusia sp. (Clusiaceae), Daphniphyllum teijsmanni (Daphniphyllaceae), Glochidion lanceolatum (Phyllanthaceae), Heptapleurum venulosum (Araliaceae), Heterostemma tanjorense (Apocynaceae), Ixora elongata (Rubiaceae), Justicia sp. (Acanthaceae), Macroscepis sp. (Apocynaceae), Maesa lanceolata (Primulaceae), Semiarundinaria okuboi (Poaceae) and Sinobambusa tootsik (Poaceae). Vestergrenia is reported from Africa (Ethiopia), Asia (India, Japan), North America (Caribbean, the United States) and South America (Bolivia, Ecuador, Venezuela).
