Eutiarosporella

Eutiarosporella Crous, in Crous et al., Phytotaxa 202(2): 85 (2015).

Index Fungorum number: IF 811248; Facesoffungi number: FoF 07365, 7 morphological species (Species Fungorum 2022), 7 species with molecular data.

Saprobic on wood. Sexual morph: Unknown. Asexual morph: Conidiomata pycnidial, uni- to multilocular, dark brown to black, globose, rostrate with elongated necks, with or without setae, aggregated in clusters. Conidiophores reduced to conidiogenous cells. Conidiogenous cells lining the inner cavity, holoblastic, determinate, cylindrical, hyaline, smooth. Conidia solitary, hyaline, smooth, thin-walled, straight, ovoid to fusoid, apex obtuse, base truncate, with a cone-like mucoid apical appendage (adapted from Crous et al. 2015).

Type species: Eutiarosporella tritici (B. Sutton & Marasas) Crous

Notes: Eutiarosporella differs from Tiarosporella in having conidiomata with long necks, and having holoblastic conidiogenesis. Eutiarosporella resembles Marasasiomyces but differs in having conidiomata often in clusters. Eutiarosporella can be differentiated from similar genera based on DNA sequence data. Molecular markers available for Eutiarosporella are ITS, LSU, SSU, BTUB and TEF-1.
