Importance and distribution

Cophinforma causes witches' brooms characterised by deformity in a woody plant (Purdy and Schmidt 1996). Cophinforma comprises two species known from Pterocarpus angolensis and Sophora chrysophylla (Fabaceae). They are reported from South Africa and The United States (Hawaii).
