Aulographum hederae

Importance and distribution

There are 45 Aulographum epithets in Index Fungorum (2022), but several species have been transferred to Aulographina, Byssolophis, Echidnodella, Echidnodes, Elsinoe, Fouragea, Hysterium, Lembosia, Lembosina, Leptopeltis, Lophiosphaerella, Maublancia, Morenoina and Schizothyrium. Aulographum comprises 18 species known on a wide range of hosts such as Acalypha sp. (Euphorbiaceae), Bauhinia sp. (Fabaceae), Coccoloba sp. (Polygonaceae), Eucalyptus globulus (Myrtaceae), Philodendron sp. (Araceae), Protium sp. (Burseraceae), Salacia sp. (Celastraceae), Xylopia sp. (Annonaceae), Hedera helix (Araliaceae) and Ilex opaca (Aquifoliaceae). Aulographum might be specific to host plants and families as each species occur on a specific host. Aulographum is reported from Asia (India, Japan, Papua New Guinea), Australia, Europe (Belgium, Greece, Portugal, Sweden, United Kingdom), North America (Caribbean, the United States) and South America (Brazil, Chile).
