Hazslinszkya

Hazslinszkya Körb., Parerga lichenol. (Breslau) 3: 257 (1861) [1865].

Index Fungorum number: IF 5911; Facesoffungi number: FoF xx, 4 morphological species (Species Fungorum 2022), molecular data available.

Saprobic on host. Sexual morph: Apothecia unformed, convex and hemispheres, sometimes elevated, convex, unevenly black shades. Asexual morph: Unknown (Adapted from Körber 1865).

Type species: Hazslinszkya gibberulosa (Ach.) Körb.

Notes: Hazslinszkya was introduced by Körber (1865) with H. gibberulosa as type species. Several authors considered Melaspilea deformis as a synonym of M. gibberulosa (Redinger 1938; Roux et coll. 2014; Santesson et al. 2004; Wirth et al. 2013). Ertz and Diederich (1865) accepted this synonymy and reported Melaspileomyces as a synonym of Hazslinszkya. Information regarding synonym of Hazslinszkya is lacking and we cannot access the description of Redinger (1938) and Wirth et al. (2013). Ertz and Diederich (2015) provided illustration of H. gibberulosa. Hazslinszkya is currently placed in Asterinales genera incertae sedis. Fresh collections and DNA sequence data is needed to confirm the taxonomic placement of the genus.
